The stretches of the Colorado Plateau which we visited were best described by U2, as being "In God's Country", which is more than true, even before the Mormons arrived. It covers southern Utah, southwestern Colorado, northwestern New Mexico, and northern Arizona. The name of the region is derived from the Colorado River, which flows through the province. So why were we out there? History: geologic history. Geo 310: Regional Field Geology of the Colorado Plateau is a class in the ever-wonderful Geology Department at the College of William & Mary. Dr. Christopher "Chuck" Bailey plotted up a map of where we went on our 19-day field study of the Colorado Plateau. These pages will largely function as a
limited photo album of the better pictures from the trip, with links to pertainent
materials and sites. |
