Many of the azaleas were in bloom along the way. They had a very slight and delicate sweet fragrance. Pollenating them were these insects that looked like a cross between a mosquito and a honeybee. It had a needle-like proboscis with long slender legs, but a big fuzzy bee body. They didn't stay still long enough to take a decent photo of them although they could hover in mid-air like a hummingbird.
