Campsite at Eagle Roost

Although nice and secluded, I realized why my site was the last to be taken. All that was holding this well-rotten tree up was a small-sized limb on the other slanting tree.

After seemingly oministic dreams of impending death and the sensation of a hand grabbing my left leg, I woke up with a startle at 3 AM to the bemoaning creaking and groaning of this damn tree, I promptly picked up my tent by its four corners, and moved it to an adjacent slope, staked it, and tried to go back to sleep.

If the tree had fallen that windy night (which it thankfully did not) it surely would have fallen on the lower half of my tent crushing my legs and making the next days hike over glaciers and scree that much more difficult.
